In the 9th Century a large fortified settlement was situated here. This was not known to the Lichtenstein family, who chose to build an Empire-style hunting lodge here in 1812. Since 1958 the area has been a site of ongoing archaeological research.
In the reconstructed Pohansko hunting lodge you can see artefacts from Great Moravia: ceramics, equestrian equipment, weapons, jewellery… An Old Slavic shrine stands outside in the area exactly as it did 1,200 years ago.
